Grandma Nielson’s Chewy Chocolate Cookies

There‘s just something special about family cookbooks-- and more importantly, Grandma Nielson's cookies. These cookies are chewy, crispy, and chocolatey all in one. If you prefer a little thicker, more cakey cook try my Grandma Nielson’s Double Trouble Chocolate Chip Cookies. Enjoy! :)

Grandma Nielson’s Chewy Chocolate Cookies

2 cups butter

4 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

3 tsp. vanilla

4 cups all purpose flour

1 cup cocoa

2 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

2 cups chocolate chips

Nuts (optional)

1/4 cup water (optional, if you want very thin and crispy cookies; we usually don't add this)

  1. Cream the room temperature butter and sugar until fluffy (about 2 minutes)

  2. Add in eggs and vanilla and mix until well combined

  3. Add in dry ingredients on low speed until just combined, do not over-mix

  4. Stir in chocolate chips

  5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 8-12 minutes. Cookies are done when the crackly top layer is just beginning to set.

  6. Enjoy warm!!
